Spears[]
This is a high-damage projectile great for killing ghouls. It can help during PvP combat but you need to pick it up before being able to use it again. You can kill a player who has a metal axe with a spear.
If you are attacked by someone with a spear, try to dodge without backing up, and pick it up before your attacker does. This will prevent them from throwing this spear again. However, if you back up, your opponent will dash towards you and pick up the spear so they can throw it again. Beware that your opponent might have more than 1 spear. To dodge a spear easily, sprint right before they throw it.
Best against: Players with only melee weapons, Ghouls
Worst against: Pro players, players with good dodge skills, far range battles
Bows[]
Wooden bow/Arrow:
This is good for defending against Ghouls if you don't have guns or spears. It is easy enough to craft and you will get it for free if you die at level 9. However, because it is sort of slow by attacking means, it is not suggested that you try to attack other players with it, unless you have really good aim and your opponent is behind a wall without good shooting weapons.
Best against: Close range weapons, Ghouls, players within low walls or only have melee weapons
Worst against: Players within full walls, guns or swat suit
Crossbow/Arrow:
This deals a little bit more damage and shoots faster than the Wooden bow, but it reloads much slower. It is harder for someone to dodge an attack with this weapon, but they can escape while their opponent is reloading. If you are attacked by someone with this weapon, it is best to just run away, because reloading will slow the attacker by a lot. Of course, if you have a good weapon, you can attack them in return and try to kill them when they are reloading.
Best against: Ghouls, players with only melee weapons
Worst against: Close ranged battles, weapons with good damage/reload
Ballistic Weapons[]
9mm
It's name stands for 9 millimeter(presumably bullet size), and it is the easiest gun to craft. It deals less damage than bows but it's fire rate make up for it. Compared to other guns, it's damage isn't much, but it's better than the more primitive weapons like bows and spears(not together). Don't get too scared if someone's shooting you with it, but try to dodge. If you can, run around them to make it harder to shoot and let them waste their bullets. If you have guns, try to shoot them. When they run out of bullets or have to reload, try to kill them with your highest damage weapon you have(melee likely will not work).
Best Against: Ghouls, far ranged battles, players with only melee weapons
Worst against: Better guns, players who know how to dodge, bullet protection
MP5
This gun has high reload and velocity, but not that much damage. It's great for those of you who love automatics, but it does take some time for you to kill someone. It's not that easy to dodge this weapon, so it's best to stay out of range and try to return fire with another far ranged weapon with high damage. To best try to hit someone, sweep your gun left and right while clicking. This weapon is terrible against ghouls, as you will need many shots to kill a ghoul, and they can easily dodge the bullets.
Best Against: Players without guns
Worst against: players with better guns, swat suit, ghouls
Desert Eagle
This is a gun with better damage than the 9mm. It is only good for people with good aim, because it's reload is only 7 and that is how much bullets you need to kill someone without bullet protection. You can dodge if someone tries to kill you with it, and run away while they are reloading. If you want to kill someone with this gun, wait until they use up their reload(7 bullets) and kill them with a strong weapon of your choice. If you are using this gun, try to conserve your ammo and shoot when you are sure than you will not waste your ammo. The main drawback of this gun is its 7 ammo capacity.
Best Against: Ghouls, players who is bad at dodging
Worst Against: Players who are good at dodging, better guns
AK47
This gun has quite a reputation both in and outside Devast.io. In Devast.io, it is basically a better version of the MP5, with equal fire velocity but 12 more damage. Like the MP5, this will work even better for those of you who are really good at aiming. The downside to this weapon is that it uses/wastes too much heavy bullets, which take alloys to make. Assuming resources aren't an issue, one should consider making an AK47. It is considered to be the best weapon after the laser submachine. Heavy bullets also have a much higher velocity, so it will be very hard to dodge them. The best way to deal with a player who has it is by wearing a swat or kevlar suit and attacking them with a good gun, such as a sniper or better. The AK47 is considered to be one of the only ballistic guns in the game that can compete with laser guns.
Best Against: Ghouls, players with only melee or any other ballistic gun
Worst Against: Players with swat suit
Sniper
This gun has the second highest damage in game, and without bullet protection it is a 3-hit kill. Also, this is a far ranged weapon, which means that you can use it to out-range guns like the Sawed-Off, and Desert Eagle. The only catch is that it has a really low fire rate, which means it's hard to hit someone who can dodge. If you have this gun, create a Camouflage Gear and hide by some trees. If anybody comes, shoot them, hopefully at least twice, and kill them from there. If someone is trying to kill you with this, you can shoot back with an automatic or dash around so they can't really shoot you, and run away if you can. If you have a swat suit and any gun, you can easily kill them. It takes 10 alloys and 8 shaped metal to craft, though, so if you don't have a smelter it is hard to get.
Best Against: ghouls, players with low range weapons
Worst against: High-fire rate guns, good bullet protections, multiple targets
Shotgun
This is a very good gun if you have lots of ammo(cartridges). It shoots 5 bullets at one time and close ranged, it will deal a humongous amount of damage(5 bullets x 21 = 105) per shot. Otherwise, it is great for surprising other players, if you don't mind savaging. The best thing is that you don't really have to aim for this gun, because it shoots 5 bullets at once to different directions. It's really hard to avoid getting killed by someone with this if they shot first, and if you didn't have very good armor equipped. If someone attacks you, run away as fast as possible while trying to shoot them with a longer range gun. If you don't have a gun, run away. If you have a Sawed-Off/some other high-damage weapon, try to get your opponent to waste their ammo(there is only 15 per reload) and dash foward to attack them with your Sawed-Off while they are reloading or retreating.
Best Against: Large amounts of players/ghouls, weapons with less than 40 damage, very low-ranged weapons
Worst Against: Players who are good at Sniper and aiming, SWAT-Suit
Sawed-Off
This is the better version of the Shotgun, with a higher damage(28 per bullet x 5 bullets per shot) but a little less range. Like the shotgun, you don't really have to aim for this gun, because it shoots 5 bullets at once to different directions. If you have this weapon, try to get close ranged with your enemy and shoot them continuously. If you are attacked by someone with this weapon, get far ranged and attack them with a far-ranged weapon, hopefully a sniper. The downside is that even worse than the Shotgun, there is only 8 shots per reload, so it is suggested that you use your shots wisely, or else you will have to reload and waste time, usually enough for someone with a good gun to kill you.
Best Against: Large groups of players/ghouls, players with bad bullet protection
Worst Against: Long-ranged weapons, nimble players who can shoot while escaping, SWAT-Suit
Laser Weapons[]
Note: These are just about the best weapons in this game, but their parts are hard to obtain. Also, they look pretty cool B )
Laser Pistol
This is a better version of the 9mm. It deals double damage, but compared to other guns it's still not that good. If this is what you have, you can defend yourself against a Desert Eagle, Pistol, and Bows. If someone attacks you with this, you could try to kill them if you have a gun with higher damage or velocity, and try to dodge because it's a 5 shot kill without protection and the reload is 30 shots.
Best Against: Players with worse guns, players who are bad at dodging, players with no energy protection
Worst Against: Players with better guns, players who are good at dodging, players with good energy protection
Laser Submachine
This is a even better version of the AK47. It is good for people who can't aim because it has 30 reload and good damage. This is extremely useful to kill players with bad energy protection. If someone with a Laser Submachine tries to kill you, get out of range and try to kill them with a sniper of some sort. It will be best if you have energy protection.
Best Against: Players without energy protection, Players without good guns, Ghouls
Worst Against: Players with good guns, Players with Tesla Armor
Laser Sniper
This gun has the highest damage in game. If you make a camo gear with it you could ambush anyone without laser protection and kill them with 3 shots. If someone tries to kill you with it, move around so it makes them hard to aim, and shoot back with a high-damage gun. Also, the reload is 10 so if you have it you will have plenty of tries to kill someone. The only bad part is that it is hard to aim because it has a really low fire rate and that automatic guns counter it.
Best Against: Players who can't really dodge, players without Tesla Armor, players with low-damage guns
Worst Against: Players with Tesla Armor, players with automatic guns
Explosives/Traps[]
Landmines, C-4, Dynamite, Grenade, Spike Trap
It is best to put these around your base. For the explosives, do not put them next to each other or else if one of them is triggered all of them will explode in a chain reaction. For grenade, if someone is about to kill you in a place without much space, you can throw one as a last resort: they will keep going even after you die. Also, you can trap them with low walls and throw a grenade at them. You can place spike traps wherever you want, and shoot any victims with a sniper or good gun. However, note that one hit with a hammer and the spike trap is destroyed, so you can use that to get out of one yourself.
The C-4 is great because you can place them in places where there are lots of resources and detonate them when a player comes close.
To avoid traps, it is best to wear a protective suit and swing a hammer in front of you as you go.
Mining Tools[]
Devaster Hands
So-So for mining wood. Done. It could get some cuteness points, if you think about it :)
Best Against: Stupid players who don't know how to fight or move
Worst Against: Everything else.
Hatchet
Most basic weapon. So-so for mining wood, animals, and bad for mining stone. This, however, is better than nothing, at least. If you are lazy and don't want to waste a few seconds and gather 10 wood to make it(the 2 stone is already in your inventory), you can find a way to die and respawn with it. You could beat someone with a nail gun, as long as you land every hit and try to dodge your enemy's attacks. High hit rate, low damage.
Best Against: Players without weapons
Worst Against: All other weapons, except the nail gun, Ghouls
Stone Pickaxe
Ok for mining stone. If you're low level(1-12) and want a easy way to boost your experience, mine large clusters of stone or iron with this (if you don't have any stronger pickaxes). Sometimes, you might find a cluster of 3 stones and you could rapidly boost your levels if you hit all 3 of them at once! Better than the hatchet, medium hit rate, medium damage. If you have this you can start to gather large amounts of stone to craft walls and doors. Medium with Normal Ghouls, but it's best not to try to hit them because you don't want to defend yourself from more than one Ghoul with this. Go to nail gun for details against nail gun.
Best Against: Hatchet
Worst Against: Better axes, pickaxes, guns, melee protection
Metal Axe
Great for killing other players without guns, sulfur axe, or good melee protection! This does a 26 damage, with a pretty high hit rate, uses not a lot of energy, and can be used to kill players with the Hatchet, Stone Pickaxe, Metal Pickaxe, and usually even the Sulfur Pickaxe (if you are good at aiming, of course)! You can mine large quantities of wood and 3 animal drops(meat, leather, etc) per hit. However, beware of those who have good guns! Good for breaking house items if you don't have hammer or a Sulfur Ax. It's pretty great against Ghouls, but try not to face 2+ of them head on.
Best Against: Hatchet, bad guns, Stone Pickaxe, Metal Pickaxe, Sulfur Pickaxe, Ghouls
Worst Against: Sulfur Axe, guns, good melee protection, agile players
Metal Pickaxe
Like the Stone Pickaxe, you can gain lots of experience by mining stone, iron, and sulfur. This does less damage than the Metal Axe, so try not to try to kill someone with that. With this, you can mine the ingredients to craft the most valuable resource: Alloys! You can have sulfur, iron, and if you go to houses, there will be a bunch of junk. Ok damage, but not that fast hit rate. You can kill someone with this if you have an ax and they don't. It's decent against one Ghoul.
Best Against: Hatchet, Stone Pickaxe, 1 Ghoul
Worst Against: Better Weapons, Good Guns, 2+ Ghouls
Sulfur Axe
This dazzling weapon is both cool and deadly if you use it right! The downside is that it takes 8 alloys to create. this deals a little more damage than the metal axe so you can defeat someone with it. It has a pretty good hit rate, small energy usage, and great damage, but for resources it is only good for wood and Animals. If a player doesn't have this or a decent gun, you can kill them. Great(if not the best) melee choice if you're a savage. Good against all melee weapons(hatchet, metal axe, pickaxes) Best close-up weapon against Ghouls.
Best Against: Ghouls, All melee weapons except Sulfur Axe, bad guns
Worst Against: Good Guns, Lots of Melee Protection
Sulfur Pickaxe
Deals good damage, has medium hit rate, and mines Uranium! You can get a LOT of experience by mining uranium with this, but hopefully you at least have a Min. Radiation Suit because you don't want to die of radiation by mining uranium. It looks quite intimidating, and you can easily beat someone with a metal pickaxe or stone weapon. It sometimes even works for bad guns! It's also great for Ghouls. If you don't have an axe or decent gun, I don't suggest trying to kill someone with this.
Best Against: Ghouls, Metal Pickaxe, stone weapons, bad guns
Worst Against: Good guns, axes
Other Items[]
Hammer
Try not to go PvP with this since this wastes much energy and doesn't attack that fast. Using a metal axe is much better. However, this is best if you want to destroy things like walls and furniture. Most furniture take 4 hits to destroy with this.
Nail Gun
This deals the least damage in game, but has a decent fire rate. If you want to kill someone with this, get far away and continuously shoot them if you have lots of nails at the ready. Do not fight anyone with any weapon at close range. If you are trying to kill someone with this, get as close ranged as you can and kill them with a melee weapon (hatchet, axes, pickaxes) Guns are also great for far range. You could use it to scare stupid players who think it's a MP5 or AK47 or something. But you should just use it for what it's supposed to be used for - patching walls from a distance.
