The SHIFT-Key + W/A/S/D is often used in this game. Be careful about the SHIFT-LOCK-key because sometimes you hit it unintendedly and you keep running and therefore lose permanently energy instead of recovering it!

As already mentioned in the comments, LEFT CLICK in the screen USES an equipped item (e.g. eat, shoot, plant, build, hit, etc.).

Hit ENTER, type what you want to say, and then hit enter again. That´s how to communicate inside the game. You often won´t have the time for longer conversations. Sometimes players won´t be able to see what you say because of too big distance or limited sight. For professional teams it is useful to have a good communication possibility outside the game (e.g. Discord, Chatserver).

E is a multifunctional key. You can look inside campfires/chests/benches/etc. with it, you can open/close doors, you can activate/deactivate switches, change lamp colors, etc. Sometimes items can´t easily be taken, so you have to move around a bit to get toward the right one.

The already listed function to split items (CTRL + item CLICK) is something everybody should know of, especially when playing in teams (since you often have to split food or other resources). This function does not work, when you are actively looking inside a chest or fridge.

Also you should know about the possibility to "throw" items also through walls (CLICK and hold button, point to destination direction (drag) and release button). These items then don´t appear on the screen, but they are (a short time) there and can be taken by the player at the other side of the (full) wall.

You can drag and drop (also exchange) items from slot to slot to sort them according to your needs.

If you have unlocked a bigger inventory (more slots), you may have to click on the backpack-icon (right bottom corner) to make these new slots visible.
