Level rushing is a pretty good strategy for people who want to get stuff with minimal effort and skill.
Note: You may die a couple times while attempting this strategy.
Overview
Level rushing is basically getting to a high level extremely fast, and then dying for the respawn rewards and building a base with those. Make sure to turn off your adblocker (if you don't have an adblocker then get off that school chromebook).
Strategy
First, get a stone pickaxe. If you spawned in the night, just find a good place and start clearing it. When you can, get the builder perk and unlock stone low walls and doors. Then, go build a base with all of those walls and doors. Wait until its day, and when day arrives, aim for double rocks and iron to level up. You will want to craft a campfire in the workbench (don't take it) and also 2-3 spears. When its night, place the campfire and gather meat for the rest of the night. After that, go attack every type of ghoul except for armored ghoul. This is for xp. Try not going outside if you have already attacked many ghouls, they can easily kill you outside. Just throw spears at ghouls that come near your base. By the next day, you should be at a pretty good level. If you are not yet level 20, kill armored ghouls. When you are level 20, you can go into the city, hide your stuff in boxes (if you have anything good), and then kill yourself. Claim your respawn rewards whenever, whether its right after or a couple hours later.
Tips and tricks
- Avoid fights with other players. Your base is pretty bad, and you need to get xp instead.
- Don't care about your skill points. Spend them on vision 3 and no inventory, and you will be fine. You don't need the stone and iron after your base is crafted.
- You will need a bit over 26k xp to get to level 20.
- Though the generally agreed on level is 20, resetting at 18-20 is alright (18-19 is not recommended because of the building supplies, but if you are alright with losing a couple skill points for building, go for it.)
- Getting from level 0-20 is tough. If you need to, kill yourself at level 8-9. 9 for a bow, 8 for the spear. In addition to that, you can place your firepit whenever and cook your 4 raw meat.
- Your campfire and workbench should be at the middle of your base. I usually use a 4 up by 8 long base, but a 6x10 base works much better (but is harder to get)
- Making a base is not required, but its much easier to level up with it. Getting your level 20 without killing ghouls is hard, and ghouls during the day only survive for so long (and at night you're dead).
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Easy to learn and relatively faster than other easy strategies
- Can get you stuff decently fast for the level of effort
- Consistently works, does not depend on much RNG
Cons:
- You can get killed if you are not careful enough very easily
- Not as fast as other advanced strategies
